My Little Chanel (-like) bags

Bags/ Featured/ Romantique

Zara tweed chanel handbag boucle

Who has £5000 to spare for a Chanel Bouclé Tweed bag? Or £3000 for the iconic, quilted Boy leather bag? Not everyone and certainly not me! High street giant Zara to the rescue….

Zara’s tweed messenger bag from the current SS 2015 collection is a dead ringer for the classic Chanel tweed bag, made out of Coco Chanel’s signature fabric Bouclb. Coming in at £39.99, this is a real bargain. The multi coloured tweed material and the heavy silver chain strap have a high-quality, solid  feel.

I’m all for sustainable fashion, i.e. having less things in my wardrobe but of higher quality.  But some things, like a Chanel bag, are just unattainable. A ghastly, Chinese-made replica is out of the question for me, but a quality high street version is a great alternative to the real deal.

My second Chanel-esque arm candy is a steal from TK Maxx. A quilted, dusty pink cross body bag by Italian designer LCredi. There are loads of imitations of the quilted “Boy” bag out there, but only few look so well crafted that they could be mistaken for the original.

What’s your take on high-street copies of iconic designer bags? A perfectly wearable substitute? Or do you prefer to save up your hard earned and splurge on the designer label?

  • Tweed messenger bag by Zara
  • dusty pink quilted bag by Lcredi
  • pink oxford lace-ups by AGL Attilio Giusti Leombruni
  • Tortoise sunglasses by Prada

Catchy and Chic Beach Pants

Rebel Alexa/ Trousers

The beautiful Baltic Sea with it’s kilometre-long white, sandy beaches is just 70 km away from my home in Hamburg. On sunny weekends, I spend every free minute on the beach. So, how to hit the beach in trousers quick and easy? Let’s have look on some outfits I really love.

Beach-Sytle-Gwen-Stefani

Gwen Stefani rocking denims on the beach. It might be a little bit too warm for jeans  but who cares when you look that good in them!

For less Rock’n Roll musicstar chic and a more vacation beach flair, floral pants are no doubt a staple for every beach style.

Beach-Style-Pants

My favorite beach pants are floral pants, casual,  because it’s time to relax and having a good time, whilst looking chic at the same time.

Zebra-print-denim-and-red-gingham-coat

3 years ago, we started our fashion blog Romantique and Rebel, borne of our love for  fashion, decor, travel and everything beautiful. It’s been a wonderful journey so far,  during which we’ve been lucky enough to forge friendships with readers, met like-minded people at fashion events and have had endless fun inspiring each other, showcasing our different styles and philosophies.

The last year has been choc full  of life-enriching events,  providing us with a wealth of  inspiration: a wedding for Romantique, travel to Italy, Spain and Australia and even a new job for Rebel. At times, it’s been challenging to update the blog regularly whilst holding down busy jobs and planning a wedding, but the satisfaction of  sharing our passions always prevails.

A huge thanks to all our wonderful readers, Twitter and Instagram followers, and Facebook fans. We love each and everyone of you!

Here’s to a great year ahead!

Enjoy these flashbacks to our most popular posts from the last 12 months.

Zara’s Summer Leopard Print Coat

Coats/ Rebel Alexa

Animal-Coat-Zara-black.white

A new way to wear an animal print summer coat is to team it with bright colors. The key here is to go for only one single vibrant color. I think shades of blue, green, pink, orange and pastels work well with leopard print. You just have to find your color. My favorite color is cornflower blue because is the easiest way to combine.

Zara’s Peplum Leather Jacket

Coats/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Peplum is a new vocabulary for us Germans! Peplum leather jackets are the ideal companion for the autumn season. At Zara we have saw this black leather jacket with peplum detail. Who else than Romantique had to try it on?  The collarless jacket is made of soft glove leather with little puffed sleeves, just gorgeous!

Emma Stone shows us how to dress peplum jackets: It fits perfectly with a slim silhouettes skinny jeans, ballet flats from Chanel and a fun T-Shirt – a charming style.

We love the Zara Peplum Jacket, really recommend it!

Zara’s printed Blazer

Blazer / Jackets/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

These days, you can’t escape the print trend anymore, it’s everywhere:  Trousers, blouses, jackets and blazers. If you want to go along with the trend, then invest in a printed piece and you’re on the safe side. At Zara, I can find the best fashion pieces and they don’t even cost much.  If I get bored of all the printed pieces it doesn’t hurt that I have only worn it  once. I like all the printed stuff and in magazines they look crazily chic but I actually love prefer  monochrome fashion. I love Zara’s printed blazer  because the small print is in the style of “artsy” and any color  – strong or soft – goes well with it.

I WEAR:

Blazer by Zara, Pastel Jeans by Bally, Shoes and T-Shirt by Tk Maxx, Bag by Mulberry

PS: Did I say, that I love my Mini One in blue horizon!?

Dress like Jenna Lyons

Blazer / Jackets/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Who could not love her style and it’s so easy to learn from Jenna.

Keep it simple but don’t  get bored. Chose straight, classic, strong colors because black is not a colour. Be always chic but don’t try too hard.

Wear jeans, a silk shirt, a jacket or a blazer, a pair of glasses and always high heels.

I WEAR:

Blazer by Zara, Silk-cotton Top by Tkmaxx, Jeans by Notify, Shoes by Hugo Boss

Dragée coloured Blazers

Blazer / Jackets/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

At the moment, Zara offers beautiful, classic blazers in dragee colours, all for under 100 Euros! You can’t go wrong by having a light blazer in your wardrobe, it’s a summer basic essential. The one I am wearing in the picture above has a great detail, a nude suede leather ellbow patch.

This soft pink Chanel look-a-like box jacket from Zara can also be yours for under 100 Euro. It’s an absolute classic and with it’s gold buttons, zipper and Boucle details not as puristic as a blazer.

Mix pastel blazer with uni coloured simple tops, blouses and shorts.

Zara’s Animal Top

Jumpers/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

I can’t resist the big cat prints because it is irresistible ultra-glamorous – just animal magnetism.

And of course I had to try this amazing Animal top from Zara! I could not leave it in the fitting room because the cut is so classic that I can mix it in all directions. It’s not single piece but multifunctional.

From skinny belts, scarves  to daring printed pants and skirts, take inspiration from all these gorgeous street style looks.

Animal Prints are really timeless if you combine your wardrobe with style – in doubt, always less than more.
