Sister time in Berlin!

Berlin/ Featured/ Rebel Alexa/ Romantique

Berlin Brandenburg Gate street style jumpsuit

Rebel and I spent some quality sister time in Berlin this weekend. Our home city spoilt us with glorious sunshine, so we did what most Berliner’s do on a sunny weekend: Lunching with our dad at one of the countless outdoor restaurants in Mitte, followed by a stroll on the boulevard “Unter den Linden” which leads to Berlin’s most iconic landmark, the Brandenburg Gate. From there, it’s just a stone throw to the Reichstag, the building which houses the German parliament. It was heavily damaged after WWII and reconstructed in 1990 when it become the home of the Bundestag again. Architect Norman Foster erected the famous glass dome which provides breath taking views over the city.

6 Reasons to wear shorts this summer

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Moschino Shorts, Breton shirt, Miss Sicily Dolce and Gabbana bag We’re  nearing the end of summer, perfect time to show off our pins in shorts. Here are 6 reasons to show some leg:

  • Shorts suit everyone. Depending on your body type, you can wear shorts super short and sexy as hot pants, mid-thigh length or knee length. There’s one pair of shorts for everyone
  • Style it for every occasion:. Wear tailored cuts for work, denim for the weekend and leather for the night
  • Adapt shorts to your personal style. Are you a rock chick girl? Try the hot pants, ankle boots and fierce tailored blazer combo.  Hopeless romantic like me? Set sail with a  Peter Pan collared shirt and espadrilles for the sweet look.
  • Shorts are season agnostic. Transition your pants to chillier autumn days by popping on some toasty tights.
  • Shorts will youngify your look. Whenever I’m afraid of looking too old-fashioned by wearing very classic wardrobe items like Tod’s loafers or a tweed boucle jacket, I simply combine with a pair of shorts. They instantly transform your look from conservative to hip.
  • Shorts are seriously cool. Alexa Chung lives in her shorts. And she’s the Queen of cool. ‘Nuff said!

Do it now!  Get in on the action and rock some shorts!

Vogue Festival London – Best of Street Style (Part 1)

Coats/ Denim/ Dresses/ Wardrobe

Russian girl Vogue Festiva Valentino

Last Saturday, I spent a fun-filled day at Vogue Festival on London’s Southbank, with my lovely  colleagues Berengere and Gledis. We went to see Alexa Chung and Lucinda Chambers speak on “Personal Style – Do you have it?” As it often goes with these type of events, the actual, one hour long talk, was not the highlight of the day.  The real fun was to meet and photograph like minded fashionistas, to be inspired by different, creative styles and to generally indulge in ‘girly nonsense’ (as Mr Romantique would call it).

I’m excited to share with you my Best of Street Style – gorgeous bloggers competed for the photographers attention and the girls were more than happy to pose.

Above and below: Head to toe in Valentino, the King of Glamour. Russian blogger Sofia Serdiukova  impressed with a black lace dress (including sheer panels) and a gold brocade coat. The string of pearls and long, curly hair added even more femininity to the already drop dead gorgeous outfit.

She perfectly epitomises Valentino’s mantra on women’s style:   “A woman must decide whether she wants to look ok or whether she wants to look too much, I prefer it when a woman wears an enormous skirt, a beautiful blouse with simple shoes, rather than a dress that that is too much and not elegant. A dress has to live, it can’t be wooden.”

Russian Blogger Valentino Vogue Festival

The must have accessory of the day was a statement lip: Cherry red, shocking pink or classic Hollywood, lips were bold. It illustrated beautifully how you can transform and add to an outfit with eye catching lips.

Boyish, relaxed sexyness in torn denim, a hat, black heels and the ever pesent statement lip! Graphic, big prints were popular too.

Vogue Festival Streestyle 2014 London  How cute is this dress? I loved the rural print at the hem and the jewelled collar. No, unfortunately this dress is not from Zara but was bought on holiday in Japan :-(.

Last but not least, the fash pack Gledis, Berry and myself.

Berry is wearing: Black coat with leather sleeves from Zara. Sunglasses from Stella McCartney.

Tartan Romantic Chic

Blazer / Jackets/ Romantique/ Skirts

Tartan Moschino skirt AW2013

Tartan, squares, plaids and checks are Rebel’s favourite trend of AW2013 from Celine to Moschino!  I have also fallen for the graphic look. Rather than styling it grungy and edgy, I like my tartans to look playful and whimsical.  Think preppy style, paired with a white blouses, Peter Pan collar and playful details like bows and empire-line shaped dresses.

My favourite shade of tartan is green as it’s classic but not as noticeable as red.

Zooey Deschannel is one lucky girl because she gets to wear Saint Laurent’s red tartan dress with white peter pan collar, black bow and empire waist. I’ve been dreaming of buying this dress but my purse reminds me I can’t !

Winter staple: The Knit Dress

Dresses/ Romantique
geometric knit dress with red bow

Knitted dress from TK Max. Grey slip on shoes from AGL Attilio Giusti Leombruni. Heart umbrella from Moschino. Black woven leather handbag from Falorni.

Comfy, easy and stylish – the new generation knitted dress is an effortless weekend staple.

When you don’t have time in the mornings, a soft wool knitted dress is easier to pull on than a crisp white blouse but looks just as polished.

How we like to wear it:

  • Above: When the wind is blowing cold, wear it with tights and flats and you’re good to go. My red tights (Falke matt 50 in “lipstick”) pick up the red bow of my graphic woolen knitted dress with turtle neck from TK Maxx.
  • Below: Wear your knitted dress with a belt to add shape like Rebel. Ankle boots in contrasting colours for a chic winter look.  Navy blue, pleated knit dress from Stefanel.
  • Wear your knit dress with knee high boots like Angelina Jolie below.

Moschino SS 2013: Swinging sixties

Dresses/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Next summer is going to be sweet and short, according to Moschino’s designer Rosella Jardini. I absolutely love the graphic pattern and sharp lines of the 60s (think Mad Men Season 5)! And Moschino spoilt us with lots of pop art for the next season: Straight cut shift dresses, mini skirts, boxy jackets in  black on white monochrome and bright pop colours. The icing on the cake: The iconic Moschino heart featured heavily in the collection, printed on the dresses and skirts.

Rock a graphic 60s dress now with tights and a warm, minimalstic coat!

Fresh, playful pop colours dominated next to the monochrome dresses!

Moschino Tartan Trend

Romantique/ Skirts/ Wardrobe

Tartan is not only a Scottish staple but also a  popular winter cloth and comes in many colours and fabrics. I’m wearing a high waisted Moschino Cheap & Chic skirt with toggle detail and ruffles at the hem.

Tartan, especially in darker winter colours, can quickly look dated. It’s best combined with a fun printed t shirt to inject some playfulness.

I’m wearing: Tshirt, skirt and blazer from Moschino (no, I don’t get paid by them, I just love their cooky cute fashion), pointy heels from Logan and  sunglasses from Chloe.

A good example on how NOT to wear tartan: As you can see, wearing the tartan pattern near my face makes me look like my own granny. Better: Wear a tartan skirt or trousers and combine with a mono coloured top or fun tee.

Do tartan punk style with dark eye makeup andca Coco / Boucle jacket made of sheepskin. Moschino cheap & Chic AW 2012/2013

Sailor girl

Dresses/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

I know I mentioned this a few times now  so bear with me.  After four months of torrential rain on the British isles (April – July) we did deserve a phenomenally hot August! And this weekend was one of those hot, hazy summer days you will dream of in the middle of winter – so I packed Mr Romantique for a rowing trip on the Thames in Richmond.

Richmond is an idyllic hidaway from the chaos of London City, I especially love it’s arched bridges which remind me of Paris, seen here in the background.

The dress code for the hot day was breezy and comfortable, nothing to clingy. This cute sailor dress was a steal for just 12 EUR from the Mod box at TK Maxx!! I ramped it up with accessories from Moschino. Kindergarten bag “Olivia” from Moschino…

….and cream coloured sunglasses from Moschino – heart shaped tan line included for prolonged tanning sessions!

Lemon yellow Jeans Friday

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Wooo hooo, Friday at last! I’m sure most of you already have bright or pastel coloured jeans in your cupboard. They have been everywhere this season!  In the pics I’m wearing  limoncello yellow jeans from Luella, a generous present from Rebel.

Lemon yellow screams for a breton striped shirt (mine is from Uniqlo). The navy blue bowling bag from Calvin Klein completes the marine look. Tell us what your favourite jeans colour of summer 2012 is: Lemon yellow, strawberry red, grass green, or blueberry?

Yellow looks great with gree or blue shoes. My green and blue ones are from Pretty ballerina.

Heels and flats

I am a flats kind of girl – ballet pumps, loafers, boots, sandals – I’m on my feet a lot so I want something comfy.

But a heel, whether stiletto or block, always looks sophisticated and sexy. It vamps up every outfit and if you are like me and love flat shoes, you should make the effort now and then to walk on high heels.

See the transformation of the same casual Breton outfit with flats and stiletto  heels.

Above: I’m wearing white capri jeans with heart pocket details from Love Moschino, a Breton shirt from Uniqulo and a kindergarten bag from Moschino paired with Pretty Ballerina ballet pumps.

Now the same outfit in brown stiletto Salvatore Ferragamo heels with wide ankle clasp. Straight away they give the outfit a feminine twist. Make sure you practice to walk in heels beforehand as nothing is more unsexy than staggering around.
