Can’t get enough of Printed Jeans

Denim/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Lots of celebs and myself can’t get enough of printed jeans, whether they are tie-dye, floral, splatter painted or star prints.

The key to pulling off this trend successfully is by wearing a more neutral, simple top with your bottoms.

I don’t really make a distinction between winter and summer wardrobe. Why printed jeans only for Summer? No, rock the Winter in your printed jeans from Sumer and then you don’t need Prozac as an antidepressant medication.

White Jeans: all-year-round like Emmanuelle Alt

Denim/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

If you thought wearing white jeans means: ‘My Name is Liz Hurley and I have very bad taste let’s have a look to Paris and at Emmanuelle Alt.

To look contemporarily chic you have to go for white jeans even in Winter. I don’t think you can forsake black jeans if you live in northern climates. But some of the überest of über fashion creatures have been wearing white jeans in rotation with dark; lead, as is so often the way with über-movements, by French Vogue ‘s editor-in-chief, Emmanuelle Alt.

Fiona Collins, head of Gap UK’s PR, says she’s been eyeing up “a grey-ankle-sock-and-camel-coloured-sandal combination, which looks incredibly chic with white. But the jeans need to be the right length,” she cautions: just above the ankle, where, if you’re genetically blessed, there will be an oh-so feminine little indentation. “A teeny kick-flare is nice, or the French pencil straight look. And don’t get hung up on that pristine look. It’s fine if they get a bit of dirt on them.”

Denim Shirt in Vogue

Denim/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Over the past few seasons, the denim shirt has certainly been a major staple in all the most fashionable closets. Variety of ways come into vogue and I thought: No, no a denim shirt is so 80’s, I will never ever wear. The piece in question, the denim shirt, is not a revolutionary item, but the way it’s being worn is certainly inspirational also for the Winter Season. That’s the trick, not looking from 1980! Most like to style my denim skirt in an elegant and chic way and wearable
in the office as well.

How To Dress Like A Parisian

Denim/ Jumpers/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Inspired by Emmanuelle Alt, I tried the French rock chic style, today. So, how to get the effortless chic of les femmes francaises?? And how to dress like a Parisian? I think the key words are here: simplicity, basics, natural and nonchalance. You do not need the latest trends in order to dress and feel like a Parisian. Chic, seasonless and neutrals are a large part of the French style. Just 4 basic wardrobe pieces are necessary with freshly washed hair, tinted day cream and Chanel lipgloss and you appear casual and elegant without being overdressed or under-dressed!

Emmanuelle Alt’s Punky Style

Denim/ Wardrobe

The 45-year-old Parisienne ( Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris since February 2011) is not a office girl; I’d die,” she said to US Vogue and I love that love attitude, it’s a state of mind!

“…Emmanuelle’s style is always original, part street, part romantic, very personal—and very French. She has a way of dressing that I love” said Ralph Lauren about Emmanuelle and we love Madame Alt’s super french style too!!!!

What Carla Bruni-Sarkozy say:

“Emmanuelle has an unaffected way to be feminine; She doesn’t wear makeup, wears little jewelry, hasn’t had surgery. She reflects how Frenchwomen are feeling—simplicity is the state we all want to be in. We are tired of useless sophistication.”

Alt herself prefers the low-key approach and takes zero minutes to prepare – “No makeup! No hair! Punky style!

Emmanuelle about her Rock-Chic-Style: “I like vintage. Balmain. Givenchy. Chanel. I love jeans. And I wear a lot of it – on the other hand hardly skirts “.

With her daughter little Françoise.

Get the style! My look a like casual Emmanuelle outfit

Street Style Denim

Denim/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

More than bags and shoes I have jeans in my closet. I guess that makes me a blue jeans babe. If I am really honest with myself, I don’t want to wear any other trousers.  I can’t explain it, but only in jeans I feel so relaxed and comfortable and full of self confidence. I never feel strange wearing them . According to Karl Lagerfeld, Jeans are the most important fashion invention. Let’s have a look at my different styles of jeans:

Lemon yellow Jeans Friday

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Wooo hooo, Friday at last! I’m sure most of you already have bright or pastel coloured jeans in your cupboard. They have been everywhere this season!  In the pics I’m wearing  limoncello yellow jeans from Luella, a generous present from Rebel.

Lemon yellow screams for a breton striped shirt (mine is from Uniqlo). The navy blue bowling bag from Calvin Klein completes the marine look. Tell us what your favourite jeans colour of summer 2012 is: Lemon yellow, strawberry red, grass green, or blueberry?

Yellow looks great with gree or blue shoes. My green and blue ones are from Pretty ballerina.

Casual Jeans Friday

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

This morning it occurred to me that I haven’t worn Jeans for weeks! Casual Fridays are the perfect opportunity to wear jeans to work.

My “problem zones” are my bum and wide hips, so I always make sure that the fit of the jeans is not too low (and these days that’s quite a challenge!). Low sitting denims accentuate wide hips and muffin tops whereas in high fitting jeans, everything is nice packed away. Stretch material is a must as it slims the silhouette.

I’m wearing Jeans by Stefanel (by the way, no, I’m not being paid by them, I just love the fit and style of this Italian High Street brand). Boucle Jacket from TK Maxx, wedged espadrilles by Ras.

Isabel Marant Summer 2012 Ready to Wear

Denim/ Jumpers/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

Yesterday, my own post about Isabel Marant gave me the idea of my old T-shirts that I actually get dressed only in sports to rethink. And actually I have a good T-shirt still in my closet for the Isabel Marant ready to wear summer look 2012.

For this great French look you just need to use your old sports t-shirts in a different context of fashion.

Haute Casual

Denim/ Rebel Alexa/ Wardrobe

How to do Haute Casual – Heels off, Trainers on because this is no time for pencil skirts and lace. Haute Casual is not a trend, more a feeling of what is utterly right for now. To study “haute casual” take a lesson in Isabel Marant. It’s all inhaling unpredictable cool.

High with low. Yes, it’s a studied look, but the effect must be spontaneous. Off is just right.
