Leopard Boots: Your best Friend for Classic Outfits

Featured/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes

My personal style is reflected in my personality: An efficient wardrobe which I can quickly adapt in many variations.

The main, basic ingredients are: Simple, clear cuts and colours which are easy to combine. Being a rebel, I love spicing up an outfit with accessories that POP. This winter, that’s my leopard ankle boots. They take every outfit to the next level and are your best friend for casual, basic styles.

You can also style leopard print with a number of pattern: Whether they are maritime stripes, checks or feminine flower prints. However, I wouldn’t recommend wearing these pattern clashes to the office. Simple sophistication is the main mantra for the working girl.

How To Dress Your Age for Autumn 2015

Blazer / Jackets/ Featured/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes/ Wardrobe

In a world where everyone from nine to 90 wears jeans, what does “age appropriate” actually mean?

Dressing your age means feeling comfortable in your own skin and working with what you’ve got.  In my case, now that I’m in my 40s, I find myself wanting to dress not necessarily younger but edgier. I want to push my boundaries, to find silhouettes that are modern and clean and have a twist – therefore I can not say goodbye to my Allstar Converse. I need a little funk. Not a lot. But enough to keep it all interesting.

My beloved Allstar Converse in Black, Bag by Moschino.

The key to successfully looking age appropriate and modern is paying attention to what feels right on you – trust your instincts and don’t get distracted by 25 year old girls with 30 million followers on instagram, that’s not helpful. Take your cue from women who do it well, like Charlize Theron, Victoria Beckham, Gwyneth Paltrow, Stella McCartney. Age classy, not trashy and you dress your age.

Superga Fashion Icons

Featured/ Romantique/ Shoes

Superga Pink London Street style

I wore my first pair of Superga trainers back in the 90s. They were light blue and super cute! Mummy R&R, ever the fashionista, chose them, but because I was a rebellious teenager, I didn’t want to wear shoes that she had picked out.

Little did I know that decades later, these Italian tennis shoes would become a global fashion phenomenon. I’m well on my way to acquiring a stable full of these beauties!

A few weeks ago, I bought my first pink Supergas. My impressions after the first few weeks of wear? They’re a dream to walk in, fit with literally EVERY outfit in my wardrobe and are suited to a wide variety of situations. I’ve paired them with pencil skirts, dresses, Chinos and denim. I’ve worn them to work, to the park, and to a restaurant on date night! I can’t believe I ignored Superga for so long. Unlike Converse chucks which are flat and feel like you’re walking barefoot on the pavement, Supergas are super comfy due to their double insole and arch support.

Above: A pencil skirt loses its grown-up, over-sexed allure when dressed down with casual trainers. Pair your summer dresses with a pair of white Supergas to avoid the garden party look! I’m wearing pink supergas, floral pencil skirty by Amphora and peplum top by GAP.

Superga white broderie anglaise Camden street style

With my romantic supergas in Camden! I’m wearing: White denim by Love Moschino, cross body bag with Moschino, breton shirt by COS, cardigan by Max & Co.

The mariniere look; white denim and Breton stripes, simply isn’t complete without a pair of white, classic tennis shoes.

You can get your Supergas personalised at the Superga shop in Camden, London.

Growing Into & Out of Fashion

Featured/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes/ Trousers/ Wardrobe

I’m 44 and there is no age I would rather be than the age I am right now. This acceptance is something I hope I never outgrow!

If I had to make a list of things I have grown out of and things I have grown into, it might look something like this:

Spring Street Style 2015 (10) (659x800)

Things I’ve Grown OUT

Anything too tight.

Wearing (Mini) skirts and long hair.

Too much Jewelry that is fun and funky.

Trying to look too hip or too young.

I am not a bag changer anymore. That’s liberating!

Although this isn’t a wardrobe thing, I have outgrown spending my time doing anything that I don’t want to be doing with people I don’t want feel happy to be around.

Street Style Spring 2015 (11) (572x800) Things I Have Grown INTO

Having less clothing.

Wearing only perfectly comfortable size.

Wearing red lipstick, short hair and Spanx.

Wearing Sunglasses at any time, the most important fashion piece.

I usually stick with one purse when I find one I like.

Using more nail polish.

Floral Pants 2015 street style (23) (601x800)

Things I’ll NEVER Let Go

Simplicity. Less is the new more.

Converse and adidas Trainers.

Black, Black…wearing Skinny Denim and Turtleneck only in Black.

The white Shirt.

Using  professional foundation daily.

Stepping into Spring with Pink

Featured/ Romantique/ Shoes

London Street style coccinelle bag and superga trainers

Don’t you love that rejuvenating feeling that Spring awakens? Warmth in the air, the promise of sunshine, holidays and longer hours. Whilst the few warm days we’ve had here in London don’t warrant unpacking my summer wardrobe yet, I’ve added a few spring coloured items to shake off the winter blues.

Pink handbag: On my recent trip to an outlet shopping center near Oxford, I bagged myself a Coccinelle handbag in a poppy, raspberry-pink colour. Naturally, I could have taken the lime green, ultra-marine blue, tangerine and purple too, but a girl’s gotta make decisions! I love Italian brand Coccinelle; their arm candy is always on trend, good quality, and comes in a rainbow of colours. Not to mention the reasonable pricing. Knock yourself out, handbag lovers!

Soft pink Superga trainers: “Stop wearing super ugly converse and following American brands like a sheep, wear Superga”. – Haha, I love this controversial quote I came across on Instagram, from a die-hard Superga fan.  Rebel will not agree, but I do find that Italian shoe brand Superga is so much more feminine than conventional Converse chucks. I HATE trainers but I gladly make an exception for these macaron pink beauties.

Finally Sockless!

Coats/ Featured/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes

It’s April and finally sockless time!

I really, really hate wearing socks! Socks look exceedingly silly with any footwear most with ballet flats. I mean, I’m not crazy for not wearing any socks or tights from October to Easter because everyone in Germany finally drives with winter tyres during this period!

Now is the ideal sockless time for trainers not too cold and not too warm!

Saint Laurent’s Dolly Block Heels

Featured/ Romantique/ Shoes/ Wardrobe

Saint Laurent Babies Mary Jane

Somehow, we’ll always be children at heart,  refusing to grow up. Yves Saint Laurent seem to have picked up this notion with their “Babies 40” Glitter Mary Janes.  Resembling something that Alice might wear in Wonderland, this mid-height chunky heel is the perfect party shoe minus the foot ache. The flattering straps conjure the slimmest of ankles.

If you don’t have the budget for Saint Laurent, look  for a great Doppelgaenger at  Zara or Asos. My bronze coloured Dolly Mary Jane’s are from Max & Co, my go-to shop for Italian quality at an affordable price.

Adidas Stan Smith Style at Place des Vosges in Paris, France

Paris/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes

As already mentioned by Romantique, Paris is the City of Adidas sneakers. In all of Paris, women as well as men are sporting the “Stan Smith” trainers. I find it fascinating, the global journey which has taken the shoe around the world. Adidas, a German Brand, designed the shoe in 1971 named after the American tennis player Stan Smith. 39 years later Phoebe Philo, a British designer, working for “Céline” (a French label), was wearing the classic white Stan Smith with green detailing in 2010. The retro Adidas sneaker became a global Fashion Girl “thing”. Last week,  I enjoyed a sunny afternoon with Romantique at Place des Vosges in Paris, France wearing the Adidas “Stan Smith.”

Outfit: Coat by Max & Co., Sunnies by Fendi, Denim by JBrand, Bag: Chanel look-a-like

The Place des Vosges is the oldest planned square in Paris and one of the finest in the city. It is located in the Marais district, and it straddles the dividing-line between the 3rd and 4th arrondissements of Paris.

Top 5 Luxe Fashion Sale Websites

Rebel in the Max and Co shop in Berlin. Now you can shop online too!

Rebel and I love well-tailored clothes and accessories. We live by the motto “too poor to buy cheap”. Premium brands come with a heavy price tag. Like most people, we can’t afford the luxury of paying full price for high-fashion. Thanks to seasonal sales at our favourite online stores, our wardrobes are brimming with bargains.

Who doesn’t love the exhilarating feeling of receiving a package to brighten up a dull office day? Opening the sturdy box, inside a fashion piece, luxuriously packaged with a grosgrain ribbon and silk paper which crunches expensively. It feels like Christmas every time!

Most online stores offer super quick delivery times and generous return policies, which even turned a sceptic like me into a converted e-commerce enthusiast!

The winter online sales period is now in its final weeks which makes it as good a time as any for Rebel and I to share our favourite shops with you.

Shoescribe sale shopping boxes

Our number one favourite!! For the shoe obsessed, Shoescribe offers the biggest discounts. Their carefully curated collection of women’s footwear is the best in the business, ranging from Gianvanti Rossi to Attilio Giusti Leombruni. Check out my recent purchases on the blog soon.

German owned “My Theresa” has all famous fashion brands covered. Especially late in the season, you can bag incredible reductions. Its my go-to site for whimsical fashion by Red Valentino & Miu Miu. Rebel has her eyes peeled for Chloe and Isabel Marant.

Only niggle: if you order from the UK, you have to pay via PayPal or bank transfer. Credit and debit cards are only accepted once you made five purchases.

The pioneering behemoth of luxury e-boutiques is where you can snap up serious bargains on the most desired brands on the planet. Only catch is you have to wait until the 11th hour, right at the end of the sales period to get the “final sale” über discounts.

One of the largest online fashion retailers, Yoox’s roster of brands includes Alexander McQueen and Prada. As with net-a-porter, get in late for the fattest discounts.

Hooray, my favourite, affordable italian fashion brand, Max Maras little sister Max&Co, opened its e-boutique gates to Europe just 6 weeks ago. Now you can enjoy shopping for discounted winter gems online. I recommend their signature dress shape “Corolla”. The. Most. Flattering. dress I have ever worn. Takes off 5 pounds. Guaranteed!

New Year, New Hair

Coats/ Rebel Alexa/ Shoes

For 2015, I intend to let me hair grow to rock a choppy bob like Sienna Miller. However, when I saw pictures of myself at Christmas time, I was horrified at the state of my hair! My Hair was in beetween two syles, short to bob, and it made me look mumsy and aged.  My haircut neither suited my face shape and attitude nor my hair structure  – the top 3 key criteria for the choice of an haircut. So, on Wednesday I went to get my hair cut short. I look like Kris Jenner but I’m happy and feel comfortable in my skin again!
