Top 5 reasons to drink 3 litres of water a day – by a German Biologist

Lifestyle/ Rebel Alexa

Everybody is talking  about drinking water to stay healthy and fit – Gwyneth Paltrow even took a selfie with her water bottle.

Here are some quotes from celebreties about the fascinating subject of water:

“Full of healing power #ILoveWater.” —Gwyneth Paltrow

“Drink water, stay hydrated and sleep. It’s so boring, yet so simple.” — Jennifer Aniston

“I think it’s very important to drink lots of water.” – Victoria Beckham

“Drinking 8 glasses of water a day is so ’90s.” — Nicole Richie

“Water is so boring! But that’s all I drink.” — Tom Ford

“Drinking water works.” — Doutzen Kroes

Mr Rebel is a biologist, so I asked him: Is drinking 8 glasses of water a day really so 90’s and complete nonsense?

He said: “Everything that is said about water is true because here are top 5 reasons for drinking 3-4 litres of water a day”:

1.) Reduces hunger, so you avoid taking up calories and will reduce fat and weight.

2.) Keeps you kidneys in good condition and making it easier for them to detox your blood.

3.) Reduces smaller skin wrkinkels by the intercalation of water in the cells. So you look younger and fresh because your skin gets a healthy glow.

4.) Lets you feel better since your blood can better supply all your organs with oxygen and nutrients.

5.) Enables better results in your job since your brain and body do better if they are well lubricated by water.

So, drinking water is great for your health and beauty but remember, it will make you having to go to the ladies much more often as women have a smaller bladder than men.  Don’t worry: You will be in good company, every Hollywood actress dashes frequently to the loo for the exact same reason!

Merry Christmas from Sydney

Australia/ Dresses/ Romantique/ Travel

Sydney beaCH Stefanel sundress

Thanks to Mr Romantique being a Sydney sider, we spend almost every year on the other side of the world for Christmas, swapping Gluehwein with cocktails and turkey with seafood on the barbie.

I used to associate Christmas with bitterly cold winter days, watching the Nutcracker ballet in the opera and eating calorific comfort food from the Christmas markets. Over the last few years,  Australia’s Christmas has grown on me:  Seafood on the barbie, a swim in the ocean on Christmas day and dashing through the beach instead of in the snow – what’s not to like?

Today is our second day in Oz: The best way to counteract the jet lag is to go out and spend some time outdoors, getting the blood in the legs pumping . To combat the heat in humid Sydney, I’m wearing a light silk sundress from Stefanel and my new pair of gingham havaianas, how cute are they?

Where are you celebrating Christmas this year, in the bitterly cold Northern Hemisphere or in the Southern part of the world?

Marie-Antoinette’s Favourite Colour

Bags/ Dresses/ Wardrobe

London Streetstyle peter pan collared dress burgundy puce

Marie-Antoinette, France’s last queen and symbol for the excess of the monarchy, had a favourite colour: She loved to wear reddish brown tafetta dresses with purple shimmer, known as “puce”. This Christmas, French mustard brand Maille pays hommage to the gorgeously decadent colour with a special edition of one of their top end mustards. A true food lover’s delight, this mustard contains black truffle and Chablis wine. Dot this over steak, enjoy with cheese, spread on a brioche, or mix in with a creamy risotto…yum!!

maille les délices de la reine My dad is a passionate hobby chef, which makes Maille’s high-end mustard a perfect Christmas gift for him. Men are notoriously difficult to buy for, so this makes a nice change to the perennial scarf, jumper or perfume. The heavy stone ware pot can be refilled in Maille boutiques around the world. I got this personalised in the London boutique with my dad’s initials – a lovely, personal touch.

Due to my colouring, puce and auburn-y colours are difficult for me to pull off. The dress I am wearing is brightened with a crisp white Peter Pan collar, an accessory I’ve loved for years, even before it was popularised by Alexa Chung.

Fashion Sisters: Winter Warmers

Rebel Alexa/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

FAshion sisters winter warmers

Baby it’s cold outside! When temperatures fall to zero, it can be tricky to find the stylish route to staying warm.  After all, down jackets are dangerously close to marshmallow territory and who wants to look  like an oligarch wife in (fake) fur?

Here’s our favourite winter dressing coming straight to you from arctic Hamburg and chilly wet London:

Rebel in Hamburg:

Winter is the perfect season to pull off killer coats. My black coat is typical Calvin Klein: Structured and minimal tailoring meet snuggly wool. A hat is a must have to fight Hamburg’s chilly breeze. Skinny jeans and flat moccasin complete with a high rubber sole  keep my feet dry.

  • Coat from Calvin Klein
  • Hat from Seeberger
  • sunglasses by Hogan
  • skinny jeans by Zara
  • Shoes & Other Stories

Romantique in London:

I love those crispy sunny winter days. When the ice-blue skies lure me outside, I make sure I’m rugged up warm. My winter survival kit entails:

  • Down jacket by Austrian  down specialist  Aperein. I love the toggle closing!
  • A navy blue beret provides a bit of Parisian flair
  • My Sprinkle ankle boots by Kurt Geiger equipped with a sheepskin insole for extra warmth
  • Gloves knitted with metallic yarn by TK Maxx
