I have a penchant for pretty fabrics: Lace is utterly romantic and feminine. To not look like a hippie lost on your way to coachella or as if you worn your grandma’s table cloth, here are my…
4 Quick tips on how to wear lace
– Lace is a material that can look cheap if the quality is not high. Keep it classy.
– Opt for tailored, classic and crisp shillouettes like a collared blouse and pencil skirt for a ladylike and elegant look that is totally wearable to work too.
– Inject some colour for a modern take: Yellow, red, pink & orange. Don’t be afraid, be bold!
– Tone down hair & accessories. The lace is enough decoration, keep make-up, shoes & jewellery minimal.
I’m wearing a two-toned dress made from macramé lace. The collared shirt and straight skirt keep the look classic. The limoncello yellow colour adds a summery note and the metallic belt clashes nicely with the prettiness of the dress.

Emma Stone at a photo call in Rome in Dolce & Gabbana. Perfect combination of classic shapes (pencil skirt, collared blouse) and feminine lace. I also love the girly braid in her hair.

Toucans, palm trees and flowers – tropical prints prints will make a totally cool statement as the temperature heats up. The bright patterns and colors let you take a journey without leaving your home town. Let these powerful patterns be the focus of your outfit by pairing pieces with basic bottoms. But remember, a little goes a long way, so choose one tropical piece and keep everything else simple otherwise you will be looking like Jennifer Lopez’s 2000 Grammy Versace dress.
Aloha, I tried different tropical shirts from ZARA’s men department. Naturally, no tropical print style is com pletewithout polarized sunglasses.
What do you think which tropical shirt works better for me, the left or the right?

I get often draw inspiration for my casual styles from men street style outfits; love his casual tropical cool look.
Whether it’s lunch in the city, Aperol o’clock on an Italian beach or cocktail hour in the evening, my raffia bag goes everywhere with me in summer.
My Miu Miu basket purse is one of my oldest fashion investments I own: Almost a decade ago, I ordered this gem on American ebay. Clearly not having thought it through properly before feverishly clicking the “buy it now” button, I did pay heavy import tax on the bag for delivery to Germany. Fast forward ten years and I could not be happier with the expenditure. Long before French style icon Ines de la Fressange declared the little straw bag a summer staple, this little bag has been brightening up many of my outfits. Me and my straw bag are inseperable, like Jane Birkin and her little wicker basket!
In the pics I am keeping it girly & nautical with a navy broderie anglaise skirt and Breton shirt.

Style inspiration from our favourites: Diane Kruger (left) carrying an adorbs wicker purse, accompanied with summer floral sandals, skirt and straw fedora hat. Jane Birkin (right) in the epitome of summer chic in the inconic movie “La piscine”: Gingham shorts and straw purse with ballerina pumps. Tres French, tres chic!
Anouk Aimeé’s style icon status was cemented as one of Fellini’s leading ladies, appearing in 81/2 and La Dolce Vita. Anouk Aimee had an exotic elegance presence often portraying a femme fatale with a dangerous sex appeal that gave her characters power that other actresses couldn’t touch. In addition to acting the French actress was a well-recognized style icon in the 1960s and 1970s. Sitting on the roof of the Hotel Excelsior in Venice in a simple green sweater, pants and ballet flats Aimée shows that she was deserving of this title.
I can’t sit on Hamburg’s roofs but nevertheless I’m really into Anouk Aimee’s French style. To get the Anouk Aimeé Style, just wear the good old wardrobe classics – Breton shirt, trench coat, simple denim jeans and tangerine high heels.

Brunch is my favourite meal of the day. Not only because I hail from Berlin where brunch is an obligatory weekend past time. I love sweet breakfast (croissant, Nutella) merged with savoury goodies such as delicious, runny eggs, cold meats and fresh juices.
“New Toms” restaurant in Notting Hill is a beautifully decorated place with painted, baroque-esque ceilings and a outdoor patio for those (rare) balmy days in London. The stripped-down-to-the-best menu offered delicious brunch options such as Eggs Benedict, homemade blueberry muffins and pain au chocolat for the sweet toothed like me.
Fuelled by great food, we strolled along Westbourne Grove and it’s array of fashionable shops. “Wolf & Badger”is a fashion store that provides a platform for selected, emerging UK designers. Every weekend, a new independent designer displays their clothes, shoes & jewellery in the shop.
That Saturday was my my lucky day as I discovered the beautiful flats and sandals of La Paire. Founder and designer Amy La displayed a sneak preview of her Autumn/Winter 2014 pointy ballet pumps in the shop. Needless to say, I’m in love with the confetti-glitter flats and the metallic Easter-egg colours of the shoes. Handmade in Spain, they are not only stylish but also fairly priced.
Wolf & Badger was named one of Britain’s best boutiques by British Vogue, make sure you pop by when you visit London. Thanks Wolf & Badger and La Paire, Romantique’s new favourite shop for ballet flats & sandals!
GORGEOUS! Impossible to chose, I must have them all!

Inspired by Rebel’s recent stylish post on Panama / Fedora hats and her insistence that this is a must-have item to jazz up my wardrobe, I finally gave in.
After a quick dash to our local TK Maxx in Wimbledon, I’m now in possession of my latest HG accessory, a soft straw panama hat, adorned with an obligatory grosgrain bow.
How to style the Panama hat?
After Rebel’s uber-cool outfit, pairing the hat with a navy, cropped Strenesse blazer, Zara cigarette trousers and quilted Chanel-esque ballet pumps, I had big shoes to fill!
For a casual day out in Wimbledon, I chose my trusted Breton shirt, a peachy boucle skirt with navy grosgrain piping and navy espadrilles.
I drew inspiration not only from Rebel but also from gorgeous Diane Kruger, pairing her hat with summer dresses and converse.
I am wearing:
- Apricot boucle skirt by Max & Co
- Breton shirt by Banana Republic
- Panama straw hat from TK Maxx
- Straw bag from Miu Miu
Pre-Fall Collections can easily be translated into summer. What’s on Victoria Beckham’s shopping list from her own latest pre-fall collection for summer? Her choice is an easy white suit. “When worn together, the Boy Jacket and Cigarette Trousers make up an effortless cool summer look. They’re my modern take on classic menswear tailoring and easy to mix with other pieces in my wardrobe.” Beckham explains.
Price point for 2 pieces: Jacket 1,895 EUR and cigarette trouser 1,030 EUR. I really love the Beckham style and I would join the waiting list on e-commerce sites for her white jacket and pants but I have to go for a more affordable alternative. My VB substitute is called H&M; I found my white boy Jacket at H&M’s menswear department last summer. Sometimes, with a lot of research, we can find pretty cool single pieces at retailers like H&M, Zara & Topshop.
On me: White Boy Jacket by H&M, Black Sweater, Denim by J Brand, Socks by Falke, Sandals by TK Maxx, Sunglasses by Blumarine and ColeHaan
