A belt is something that can take your outfit from boring to chic. A looped or knotted belt adds a creative edge to classic belts whilst addressing the issue of excess length.
I’m mixing up my goody-good-girl polka dot dress with a knotted, wide belt. Accessories can make or break your style: I like my belts wide – to define my waist and to pull the outfit together.
How to knot a belt?
- Tie the belt around your waist and buckle it.
- Take the tail end of the belt and tuck it underneath near the buckle.

There are a few things in fashion you can blindly chose to wear because they will always be fashionable. The shift dress is one of those fashion items. Paired with the cute navy blue and white polka dot pattern, you have a timeless fashion combination.
Polka dots and other pattern don’t mix well. Exception: Mix Polka dots with stripes for a fresh look. My navy blue dress is from Amphora, polka dot scarf from Moschino, sunglasses from Chloe, espadrille wedges in navy blue suede from RAS.
Eva Mendes is wearing a navy blue Dior polka dot dress with a cream belt and Mary Jane Heels. Very retro, very elegant. If you are afraid of wearing polka dots, wear them in classic shapes like this. You can’t go wrong.
Scarlett Johansson sports a more playful version of the polka dot dress: Pair it with red suede ballet pumps, a cropped cardi and cat eye sunglasses (love this match of the retro dress and glasses) for a more relaxed polka dot look.

It seems that polka dots are a lasting trend in fashion. My polka dots top is more than a year in my closet but I didn’t know how to wear? Now, I have found my personal style and know as dots look best on me.
It was a process until I realized that a clear and straight style works best for me. Since then I feel to 100 prozent comfortable and confident with my wardrobe.

What do you do on yet another rainy summer Sunday in London? The answer is simple: You dress as if it is warm and have a gelato pretending you’re in Italy!
I snapped up this dress in Berlin at Max & Co., one of my favourite Italian stores. With it’s straight 60s shift shape and the geometric pattern, it looks like it’s come straight out of Megan Draper’s wardrobe. Straightly cut shift dresses are great to hide a gelato tummy while you can still show your legs. Monochrome is an eternal classic look and becomes irresistable with a flash of yellow colour.
As this dress is such a statement with it’s graphic prints, I toned down accessories and just teamed the dress with flat yellow Pretty Ballerinas.
This sweetly decorated gelato shop (Dri Dri) is located at the tube station High Street Kensington. Their gelato is made fresh each morning and only contains 8% fat for guilt free pleasure . If you’re at Portobello Road, make sure to pop into Dri Dri’s sister’s store.
Bravo! After Cameron Diaz recent style disaster at the Golden Globes, she’s back to her fabulous self with a bang.
Rocking the spring and summer’s 2012 50ies trend, she wore a feminine polka dot A-line dress at yesterday’s Dior Couture show and teamed the ladylike dress with sexy gladiator sandals.
Clothing with dots can look fresh and trendy when done the right way, but beware; it can look frumpy and housewifey when done wrongly. Always go for BIG dots; small dots, especially on black fabric, will make you age 10 years!
Kristin Davis and Cheryl Cole perfect the look on white fabric and with larger dots, although I personally think Cheryl’s shoes are dotty-overkill. Try not to overdo it. Plain coloured shoes would have looked better with this cute dress!
I am wearing a dark brown blouse with large cream dots.
