As you know, I’m a big fan of whimsical Parisian custume jeweller Les Néréides and their cooky-cute sub line N2.

So you can imagine that I was beyond excited when I discovered that Les N√©r√©ides’ new collection is already out in the London Covent Garden shop! Oh the joys of working in walking distance to my favourite shop!

The new collection does not disappoint and continues in the same enchanted, lovingly detailed  fashion of previous collections. As always, all pieces are hand painted.

The following collections caught my eyes:

The updated Paris collection “Paris Mon Amour”: Spring and Romance is in the air! Lovers in Paris, passionately hugging on blue, faceted glass. Earrings depicting a little Eiffel tower¬†and a lady on a bike dangling off delicate red hearts. The statement Paris necklace¬†entails all of our Parisian landmarks:¬† The fashionista, the lovers, the girl on a bike, the metro pole. Fantastique!

Feminine and classicly beautiful  is the collection with the bows: Golden pearl hoops adorned with a bow, delicate bow rings and bracelets, a statement necklace with chunkier bows. One doesn’t know where to look first!

Les Néréides SS 2014 Paris Earrings It was so hard to chose a piece from the new spring summer collection as  I wanted them all! This year I have to save up for bigger things and only allowed myself one pair of earrings. I took these beaties home! A playful Paris scene, the Eiffel tower and a girl on a bike. Note the cat in the whicker basket.

Oktoberfest Dirndl Street style in London

Current Affairs/ Dresses/ Romantique

It’s that time of the year again when the South of Germany celebrates the Oktoberfest, an outdoor Beer Garden Festival copied all over the world, from Brazil to Australia. The traditional Oktoberfest Dress, the Dirndl, is worn in the South of Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Northern Italy (South Tyrol). As an authentic Berliner,¬† I love wearing the Dirndl in London as a funny novelty. After all, the nipped in waist, flared skirt and fitted bodice of the Dirndl is hugely flattering to every figure.

In London, restaurants and clubs such as “Bodo’s Schloss” and the “Tiroler Hut” are ideal playgrounds to wear Dirndls while tucking into a hearty meal.

Dirndls can be expensive and cost up to 1,000 EUR, as they are typically crafted from rich fabrics and hand made prints.¬† It can be difficult to find them at more affordable prices, however if you’re lucky enough to be in Germany, TK Maxx sells Dirndls every year around this time. H&M in Munich also offers a variety of low priced Dirndls.

I am wearing a TK Maxx Dirndl, Falke “Wiesn” knee highs, gingham kittenheels from Marc Jacobs. Straw bag from Misako. Gingerbread heart necklace from Thomas Sabo.¬† What to wear with a Dirndl? Cooky cute jewellery from French Designer Les Lereides of course! Gingerbread man ring and Haensel and Gretel charm bracelet perfectly match the Germanic theme.

Ballerina Chic

Accessoires/ Romantique/ Skirts/ Wardrobe

Leather skirt from Max & Co.

My work colleagues have been amazing, organising surprise pre-wedding celebrations and a voucher from my favourite shop, French custome design jeweller Les Nereides. The voucher was burning a hole in my pocket, so on the long weekend, I popped by Les Nereides’ flagship store in London’s Covent Garden. Et voila, I chose these whimsical, adorably detailed asymmetrical earrings from the ‘Pas de Deux’ range.

After the cat range and¬† the gingerbread line, I ‘m now loving the ballerina earrings. Bring on Christmas and the Nutcracker ballet!

Miu Miu straw bag and Les Nereides earrings

My straw bag with bamboo handles is from Miu Miu, broderie anglaise shirt from Amphora. I paired this with a leather skirt from Max & Co to not look too goody two shoes in this girly outfit.

To match the tune of the earrings, I’m wearing wanna be ballet shoes from flipflop.

Parisian Patisserie Jewellery

Accessoires/ Romantique

French patisserie bracelet Les Nereides N2

I have to fit into a wedding dress soon and whist I’m trying (not¬† very successfully) to suppress my chocolate urges, I’ve been happy to¬† indulge in Les Nereides N2 sugary cute Patisserie jewellery. This¬† weekend my favourite French designer jeweller, had a sample sales at their Covent Garden, London, location.¬† I snapped up gourmand pieces¬† of their delicious Rue du macaron and Poids du Plaisir, based on all great French pastries.
Above: French deserts on a charm bracelet: Millefeuilles, Paris-brests and¬†rum babas . The gold coins mark the names of famous p√Ętissiers throughout French¬† history.

Chic & Mignon Parisian Jewellery

Accessoires/ Romantique

Parisian Lover earrings

Jewellery from Les Néréides, a Parisian costume jeweller, is like a dreamy journey into a world of naivety, fairy tales and endless creativity.

Even for the most rational of fashionistas, it is impossible to not give into the charm of those quirky, cooky-cute designed pieces.

Escape daily routine, spreadsheets and the office life with my favourite pieces:

Above: Golden Hoop earrings “Lovers in Paris” from the Paris Carte Postal collection. Hand painted sketches representing life in romantic Paris. This. is. unbelievably. adorable. !

Les Nereides Ballerina earrings

Pink, asymmetrical earrings from the Les Nereides “Pas de Deux” line. For the 120th anniversary of the opera Nutcracker, Les Nereides ¬†added a new colour called “chocolate” to the collection. Magnifique!

Les Nereides gingerbread earrings

N2 is Les Nereides’s quirkier subline. These gingerbread earrings are good enough to eat!

The delicate charm of fairy tales in the shape of Little Red Riding Hood

Les Nereides locket heart pendant

The Line “Ouvre ma ton coer” (Open your heart to me) are hematit plated lockets with different figurines inside to celebrate different occasions:

·    A heart within a heart over a heart. The French call this mise en abyme. I call it chic!

·    A girl holding a bouquet of flowers to celebrate Mothers Day.

·    Bride and groom to celebrate a marriage.

·    A couple to celebrate love or an engagement.

·    A stork carrying a bundle of joy to celebrate a new arrival (ok, this is even too much for me)

Fairytale locket

Take your favourite fairy tales and put them round your neck. My favourite is the gingerbread house with Hansel and Gretel hidden inside.

Tell us what you think, do you love the tongue-in-cheek  jewellery from Les Nereides or is it too much Kitsch for you?
