Living in London, going to Notting Hill and strolling along Portobello Road never loses it’s appeal. On Sundays, it’s less crowded and touristy than Saturdays but at the same time still vibrant and atmospheric. I never get enough walking past the pastel coloured houses on Portobello Road, nipping into my favourite bakery Hummingbirds for a cheesecake brownie (and hoping to bump into Claudia Schiffer who once bought cupcakes there for her children, according to my then flatmate). Always worth a visit is the cute Biscuiterie bakery for their creative, hand-iced gingerbread house designs and my favourite restaurant, Osteria Basilico. T.H.E. best authentic Italian in London.
And if you’re lucky (or not, depends how you view it!) you might bump into a celeb who walks around completely anonymously among Notting Hill’s colourful crowd. We bumped into Boris Becker and his then heavily pregnant Lily while shopping. On another occasion, we spotted Kate Moss, her daughter and Agnes Deyn in front of the American Apparel shop at the top of Portobello Road.
Above : On a chilly London’s summer day, I’m wearing a sunshine yellow circle dress by Calvin Klein bought at TK Maxx in Germany, yellow Pretty Ballerina ballet pumps and a waist belt by Post & Co. Circle dresses are like an instant diet: The waist whittling middle and the flared skirt hide hips and thighs. So you can tuck into a Hummingbirds cupcake without a guilty conscience.
A fashionable tourist wearing a pink trench coat and a straw hat. Cute”
Notting Hill’s many knick-knacks, door knobs…
Hand iced biscuits from the Biscuiterie. How very fitting for the Wimbledon Tennis Season: An umbrella, strawberries and the centre court!
I teamed my yellow circle dress with a boucle jacket and a straw bag
Loving the retro tin signs: “Blondes Have More Fun But Brunettes Remember It The Next Day!”
This friendly fellow will greet you in one of the shops on Pembridge Road!
Try a biker jacket to make the pleated dress / skirt look trendy and fresh as seen on Kate Moss (above) who models this current Mango season!
Wear a fitted cardigan or jumper over the pleated skirt and accessorize with a belt to emphasize the waist. I’m pairing a turquoise springy pleated skirt from Benetton with a pale pink cardigan from Stefanel and pink / red belt from Stefanel.
Cool ladylike chic: Clean crisp shirt and a classic tote handbag. Lemon yellow pleated skirt from Cos.

Mango confirmed Kate Moss as the new face for Mango AW 2011. Booooo. Who wants to look like a worn-out popstar who has her best years behind her? We want Penelope Cruz back. The Spanish beauty; graceful and stunning, who modelled Mango’s clothes from 2008 until last year. Were we not all lured into the shops and tempted to part with our hard earned cash for clothes modelled by Penny, in order to grasp a little bit of her glamour?
Not only did she model the clothes, but she also designed a range for Mango together with her sister Monica. Below I’m wearing a beige dress designed by Penelope. It’s genius in it’s simpleness yet sophistication and ticks all the right boxes of elegance: Knee-length, three quarter sleeves, boat neckline.
Please Mango, bring Penny back!
Mango hat Kate Moss als neues Gesicht ihrer Herbst / Winter Kollektion 2011 bestaetigt. Oh nein!
Mango, please bring Penny back!
Romantique and Kate Moss with her adorable daughter Lila Grace in Notting Hill.
“Who’s this girl over there with the Chanel bag? OMG It’s Kate Moss”!
These were Romantique’s words when she spotted Britain’s Ueber model strolling on Portobello Road along with her daughter Lila Grace and chummy model Agnes Deyn.
Kate looked remarkably average: Not very tall for a model (about Romantique’s height), splissed, out-of-bed hair and yellow teeth! She wore skinny jeans, gilet, go-to-hell sunglasses and the obligatory fag in the mouth. Hmm, we think 25 year of Kate Moss is enough now, time to move over!
Her non-descript appearance worked to her advantage in one department: No one seemed to have noticed her. She moved undisturbed on a packed Portobello Road on a bank holiday weekend!
One thing we do need to credit Kate with: On inspecting our pictures of her on the iphone, we were blown away – Kate looking very model-esque mega cool – she’s extremly photogenic and really stunning. She has a great presence on camera and this is would made her the super model she was and is today.
Kate’s daughter Lila-Grace donned the better outfit: Gladiator Sandals, blue dress with polka dots (very francaise) and grau cardigan. Who’s the it-girl now?
