The Romantic Era

Romantique/ Wardrobe

…… was an artistic, literary and intellectual movement rooted in the German Sturm und Drang  movement, that prized intuition and emotion over Enlightenment rationalism. The ideologies and events of the French Revolution laid the background from which both Romanticism and the Counter-Enlightenment emerged.

These days, the adjective “romantic”  is used as an expression for love and longing, for example a “romantic” letter.

Romantic fashion is as popular and timeless as ever, characterised by feminine cuts, soft colours, layers, tiers, puff sleeves and fine materials like silk. Fashion is not only art but we also utilise it to express how we want to be perceived by others. And in a world of corporate jobs, tough working hours, routine filled days,  what better escape could we have then to colour our world in Romantique?
