The old cliche that leopard and animal prints are vulgar has been refuted by many style icons. Quite the opposite, leopard print is a timeless wardrobe staple, as referenced in my favourite style bible “Paris Street Style” by Isabelle Thomas and Frederique Veysset.
Low quality, worn out materials make leopard print look cheap, hence we like our favourite leopard pattern on cashmere jumpers, fake fur coats, trench coats, woolen or silk scarves, elegant loafers, pumps and bags.
Rebel: With my short animal print jacket from Maison & Scotch, I’m only wearing skinny jeans. At first I paired the jacket with boyfriend jeans but soon dismissed this ensemble as it made me look terrible. Short, boxy jackets only look good on me teamed with skinny jeans, other shapes just don’t work.
Romantique: If you are afraid or unsure of animal prints, try wearing animal accessorieses like a bag or scarf. Take a simple, black coat and a snake print bag and turn around your whole outfit! I only ever wear animal patterned jumpers with skirts to give it a girly twist.
My snake print bag is from Alberta Ferretti, leopard jumper and woolen skirt from Max & Co, gloves from Ugg, scallop collar from COS, ankle boots from Goertz.
