Never say Never in Fashion

Denim/ Featured/ Rebel

Streetstyle_Boyfit_denim

I usually only wear skinny jeans, but recently  I’ve become a believer in boyfriend jeans. I’ve long ignored this fashion piece which has become a staple thanks to its relaxed fit and lived in look.

How could that happen?

“Never say never in Fashion, because you’ll be wearing “Never” in two years time.” (Alexa Chung) I said “never” to Boyfriend Jeans but if you never try, you will never know – I learned it’s working for fashion too.

Streestyle_boyfit_denim

Boyfit jeans look great paired with everything from a basic T-shirt to a chic Blazer, and they lend versatility in terms of shoe choice: you can wear them with everything from Converse to sky-high stilettos or flats.

Weekend Outfit under 100 Euro

Denim/ Jumpers/ Rebel/ Wardrobe

Outfit streetstyle under 100 Euros

Style should not be limited by price tags. Outfits should fit your body shape and make you look a million dollars,  regardless of your actual bank balance.

My outfits are typically affordable. This outfit set me back less than 100 EUR and goes to show that style does not have to correlate with a high-end price.

You don’t need to be dressed head to toe in Dolce & Gabbana to look the part. Mix high end with lower end for a classy and chic look.

What I wear:

  • Denim jeans by Zara 39  EUR
  • T-Shirt by Zara 19  EUR
  • Sunglasses by TK Maxx 19  EUR
  • Pointy black flats by Carvela Kurt Geiger at TK Maxx 29 EUR

“Never use the word “cheap”. Today everybody can look chic in inexpensive clothes (the rich buy them too). There is good clothing design on every level today. You can be the chicest thing in the world in a T-shirt and jeans — it’s up to you.”

6 Reasons to wear shorts this summer

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Moschino Shorts, Breton shirt, Miss Sicily Dolce and Gabbana bag We’re  nearing the end of summer, perfect time to show off our pins in shorts. Here are 6 reasons to show some leg:

  • Shorts suit everyone. Depending on your body type, you can wear shorts super short and sexy as hot pants, mid-thigh length or knee length. There’s one pair of shorts for everyone
  • Style it for every occasion:. Wear tailored cuts for work, denim for the weekend and leather for the night
  • Adapt shorts to your personal style. Are you a rock chick girl? Try the hot pants, ankle boots and fierce tailored blazer combo.  Hopeless romantic like me? Set sail with a  Peter Pan collared shirt and espadrilles for the sweet look.
  • Shorts are season agnostic. Transition your pants to chillier autumn days by popping on some toasty tights.
  • Shorts will youngify your look. Whenever I’m afraid of looking too old-fashioned by wearing very classic wardrobe items like Tod’s loafers or a tweed boucle jacket, I simply combine with a pair of shorts. They instantly transform your look from conservative to hip.
  • Shorts are seriously cool. Alexa Chung lives in her shorts. And she’s the Queen of cool. ‘Nuff said!

Do it now!  Get in on the action and rock some shorts!

Are zebra pants still popular this SS 2014?

Denim/ Rebel/ Trousers

2014-Street-Style-Animal

Are animal prints like zebra, leo or snake out of style? A matter of taste I guess. There’s plenty of looks and trends to choose from, it’d be too boring if we all loved the same things.

2014 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival - Day 2

Are zebra pants still popular this ss 2014? Take look at Jared Leto Jared – he wore $700 Saint Laurent Zebra Pants to Coachella Music Festival 2014. Would you wear a $700 anything to Coachella? I probably wouldn’t, zebra pants are fun fashion and never worth $ 700 in my little world.

Galeria_Kaufhof

I bought my zebra denim last summer season at H&M and I’m wearing the pants this summer season 2014 again. I mostly wear them for fun and at weekends, not to work. Maybe I’ll wear them next year at Coachella 2015, who knows?

A navy and white striped Breton shirt is part of of everyone’s wardrobe, bien sur! A classy and timeless piece.

But what if you’ve become bored lately with the style classic? Just replace navy with broad, brightly coloured stripes for an injection of life! Or how about doing Rebel’s favourite pattern clash, stripes and florals? Just be creative, mix and match and have fun!

Street-style-wardrobe-spring-2014

Every day, I get up at 5:45 am.
This is definitely too early to think about what to wear on a Friday!  In such cases it’s good to pick a outfit combination from my wardrobe that works easy- denim, a white shirt, black blazer and white trainers.

Happy Easter in Pastel Pink Denim

Decor/ Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

pink denim just cavalli streetstyle london

For me, Easter time is the promise of summer and the colour opulenceof spring flowers. It’s about catching the first tentative sun rays inan outdoor cafe! So to go with that mood, a pink macaron coloured jeans it has to be. I’ve taken a leaf out of Diane Kruger’s style bookwith my pastel pink jeans, breton shirt and pink ballerina pumps.

For most of Easter, I’m in Berlin for a dental operation, while poor Mr Romantique stayed behind in London. I must admit that all the chocolate and cute Easter decorations in Germany made me recover rather speedily. Easter is almost as much of a big deal as Christmas here. Supermarkets turn into Willy Wonker factories where every chocolate brand, from Lindt to local chocolate manufacturers such as Rausch, compete over who creates the cutest chocolate rabbit.

Guess where this little fella is from...:-)

Shopping malls install Easter markets displaying animated giant toy rabbits who engage in adorable activities such as conducting a classical concert out of an Easter egg or racing in a flying carrot! At home, I like to decorate the flat with bunny and chicken ornaments hanging from willow pussy branches or cherry tree twigs.

Easter decor ranches with ornaments

No wonder Germany turns into rabbit land over Easter, the bunny as an Easter symbol has it’s origins here, where it was first mentioned in German writings in the 1500s. The first edible Easter bunnies were made in Germany during the early 1800s. German emigrants brought the symbol of the Easter rabbit to America in the 1700s.

Vogue Festival London – Best of Street Style (Part 1)

Coats/ Denim/ Dresses/ Wardrobe

Russian girl Vogue Festiva Valentino

Last Saturday, I spent a fun-filled day at Vogue Festival on London’s Southbank, with my lovely  colleagues Berengere and Gledis. We went to see Alexa Chung and Lucinda Chambers speak on “Personal Style – Do you have it?” As it often goes with these type of events, the actual, one hour long talk, was not the highlight of the day.  The real fun was to meet and photograph like minded fashionistas, to be inspired by different, creative styles and to generally indulge in ‘girly nonsense’ (as Mr Romantique would call it).

I’m excited to share with you my Best of Street Style – gorgeous bloggers competed for the photographers attention and the girls were more than happy to pose.

Above and below: Head to toe in Valentino, the King of Glamour. Russian blogger Sofia Serdiukova  impressed with a black lace dress (including sheer panels) and a gold brocade coat. The string of pearls and long, curly hair added even more femininity to the already drop dead gorgeous outfit.

She perfectly epitomises Valentino’s mantra on women’s style:   “A woman must decide whether she wants to look ok or whether she wants to look too much, I prefer it when a woman wears an enormous skirt, a beautiful blouse with simple shoes, rather than a dress that that is too much and not elegant. A dress has to live, it can’t be wooden.”

Russian Blogger Valentino Vogue Festival

The must have accessory of the day was a statement lip: Cherry red, shocking pink or classic Hollywood, lips were bold. It illustrated beautifully how you can transform and add to an outfit with eye catching lips.

Boyish, relaxed sexyness in torn denim, a hat, black heels and the ever pesent statement lip! Graphic, big prints were popular too.

Vogue Festival Streestyle 2014 London  How cute is this dress? I loved the rural print at the hem and the jewelled collar. No, unfortunately this dress is not from Zara but was bought on holiday in Japan :-(.

Fashion Sisters: Imitating our Icons BB & Jackie

Coats/ Denim/ Icons/ Rebel/ Romantique/ Wardrobe
Rebel BB Ballet

Brigitte Bardot as a Ballet dancer and Rebel practicing ballet at the Ballet School as a 15 year old in East Berlin.

As part of our Fashion Sisters series, we are channeling our favourite fashion icons this week, Brigitte Bardot and Jackie Kennedy!

Rebel: Just like me, Brigitte Bardot initially intended to  pursue a career as a Ballet dancer before she was discovered as an actress. Her style is super feminine yet casual,  I especially love her signature  Capri pants and flat ballet slippers.

Look inspired by BB. Below I’m wearing:

Ballet pumps from Pretty Ballerina, floral jeans from Citizen of Humanity, sunglasses from Céline, headscarf from  Hermés, black jumper from Tk Maxx.

Brigitte Bardot Rebel Style Romantique and Jackie Kennedy

Romantique: For this week’s sisters challenge, I chose to style myself like Jackie Kennedy! Rebel always says that I look like her, especially my profile. I can’t really see it myself, but I gladly take this compliment on board! After all, Jackie Kennedy personifies  good taste.

My favourite fashion eras are the 50s and 60s, the most flattering time for women. Jackie Kennedy’s style repertoire included all of my favourite wardrobe items of this time: Sleek shift dresses dresses, A-line mini dresses, trench coats, midi-heeled shoes and fabulous sunglasses, all worn with an inimitable elegance.

 I am wearing:

A-line black mini dress from Max & Co, bug like sunglasses from Chloé, trench coat from Max and Co, mini bag from Gianfranco Ferré.

Fashion Sisters: One Look,Two Styles: Monochrome

Blazer / Jackets/ Denim/ Rebel/ Romantique/ Trousers

Fashion sisters Monochrome Looks

A monochrome look, styled in two ways. Are you Romantique or Rebel?

Trends come and go, black and white will always stay. It’s the most classic and uncomplicated combination of colours. Style it romantic like Romantique or cool and minimalistic like Rebel.

Romantique: Black and white can look severe and quite grown up. I wanted to give the monochrome look a playful note by adding a bow jumper and vichy checked trousers, paired with easy to wear moccasins.

Romantique is wearing: Bow Cashmere jumper from Antoni & Alison. Gingham woolen trousers from Max & Co AW2013. Moccasins from AGL Attilio Giusti Leombruni. Woven patent bag from Falorni. Wayfarer sunglasses from Ray Ban.

Rebel: My Black and White Outfit looks clean and minimalistic. To break up the strictness of the look, I added stripey socks and open sandals to give it a fun notion while still keeping the style simple.

Rebel is wearing: Jeans by J Brand. Turtleneck sweater by Stefanel, white blazer by H&M (from the men’s department), stripey grey socks by Falke, sunglasses by Anna Sui.
