Converse Sneakers Style

Rebel/ Shoes

I’m in love with the cool nonchalance when I wear Converse Sneakers – the original and the best and still under 60 EURO if you buy in UK and not in Germany!

Sixty percent of the Americans say  they have owned at least a pair of converse in their life. I have 4 pairs of Chucks – jeans blue, white Coco Chanel, racing green and turquoise but most of all I love the blue one. One who wears converse doesn’t look desperate but 10 years younger.

Brit Chic: Monochrome argyle

Jumpers/ Romantique/ Wardrobe
Time to dust off your trusted argyle sweater: British heritage designs and fabrics (argyle, tweed, herringbone, plaids) have been prominent this autumn/winter 2012.
For me, a classic argyle pattern jumper is an autumn staple. To not look frumpy, I like combing it with Jeans, leather or a sharp lace pencil skirt.
I’m wearing: Black and white Moschino Cheap & Chic argyle jumper, black lace pencil skirt from Zara, kitten heels from Logan, sunglasses from Chloé.
Monochrome colours give argyle pattern a cool 60s  twist. Argyle patterned dress from Moschino.
A few argyle inspirations: delicate lace clashes nicely with the boyish pattern. Yellow dress and grey argyle cardigan spiced up with a brown belt.

About Fashion Blogs

“All blogs post the same stuff”- yes and no but she doesn’t know Romantique and Rebel. Most fashion blogs I know post “copy and paste” photos from other blogs or magazines and a meaningless comment. That’s it. Our private cameras are always stand by if Romantique and Rebel talk about fashion.

We don’t work in the fashion industry, or sit in the front row, we do our very own fashion thing and we show and share it every day. We post daily about our wardrobe in London and Hamburg and everyone can see what we have chosen to wear – R&R is not a copy and paste Fashion Blog.

Autumn Knit pleated skirt

Romantique/ Skirts/ Wardrobe

Pretty pleated skirts in gelati colours were our best friend in summer. I’m glad they are here to stay in heavier materials: Think leather and wool.

Pair them with ankle boots, kitten heels, riding boots or penny loafers for the preppy look!
I’m wearing: Knitted grey pleated wool skirt from Stefanel, nougat coloured leather jacket from Stefanel kitten heels from logan and hand bag from Falorni

My petrol coloured tights are from Falke Summer Spring 2013 collection.

Barcelona’s artisan jewellery gallery

Accessoires/ Romantique/ Travel

One of my highlights of Barcelona, besides Park Güell, was the gothic quarter.  It used to be a Roman village and boasts many medival buildings. Walking through the labyrinth of narrow streets, I felt like I had been beamed back into Roman times.

Lovely shops, cafés and restaurants are hidden within the winding streets.  One of them was Jewellery shop La Basilica Galeria. If you ever visit Barcelona, make sure to not miss this gem!
I was instantly drawn to take a look inside: Rose leaves and red glitter hearts were scattered on the pavement. The shop inside is spectacularly decorated like an art gallery. It houses the most extensive and unbelievable collection of jewellery for all tastes, that I have ever seen: Everything is artisan, handmade and of exquisite taste. I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Enjoy!

Gaudi’s gingerbread town Barcelona

Accessoires/ Romantique/ Spain/ Travel

This weekend, I decided to escape the rainy autumn weather of London for some sun and culture in Barcelona! Oh the joys of living in a low cost carrier hub!

On top of my sight seeing list  was Park Güell, one of seven architectural wonders of Antoni Gaudi, protected by Unesco world heritage.
Barcelona is littered with Gaudi’s startling works: My absolute favourite is Park Güell.
Walking through the entrance of Park Güell, I felt like I was in a Hänsel and Gretel fairy tale by the Grimm brothers! The two pavilions on each side of the entrance (built in 1901) resemble gingerbread houses  with their egg-shaped, curved surfaces.
I’m sitting on the main terrace getting a wonderful view of the park and  Barcelona. The long bench symbolises a sea serpent.
For the mosaics, Gaudi used broken ceramic tiles, plates and cups.
Left: Incredible detailing on the gingerbread houses  Right: Balcony of Gaudi’s home which is a museum today. Parque Guell is one of Gaudi’s most colourful and playful works.
Love gingerbread like me? Then you will love these gingerbread inspired jewellery piece: Thomas Sabo Gingerbread heart and gingerbread Hänsel and Gretel candy charm bracelet  by Les Néréides.

How To Dress Like A Parisian

Denim/ Jumpers/ Rebel/ Wardrobe

Inspired by Emmanuelle Alt, I tried the French rock chic style, today. So, how to get the effortless chic of les femmes francaises?? And how to dress like a Parisian? I think the key words are here: simplicity, basics, natural and nonchalance. You do not need the latest trends in order to dress and feel like a Parisian. Chic, seasonless and neutrals are a large part of the French style. Just 4 basic wardrobe pieces are necessary with freshly washed hair, tinted day cream and Chanel lipgloss and you appear casual and elegant without being overdressed or under-dressed!

Emmanuelle Alt’s Punky Style

Denim/ Icons/ Wardrobe

The 45-year-old Parisienne ( Editor in Chief of Vogue Paris since February 2011) is not a office girl; I’d die,” she said to US Vogue and I love that love attitude, it’s a state of mind!

“…Emmanuelle’s style is always original, part street, part romantic, very personal—and very French. She has a way of dressing that I love” said Ralph Lauren about Emmanuelle and we love Madame Alt’s super french style too!!!!

What Carla Bruni-Sarkozy say:

“Emmanuelle has an unaffected way to be feminine; She doesn’t wear makeup, wears little jewelry, hasn’t had surgery. She reflects how Frenchwomen are feeling—simplicity is the state we all want to be in. We are tired of useless sophistication.”

Alt herself prefers the low-key approach and takes zero minutes to prepare – “No makeup! No hair! Punky style!

Emmanuelle about her Rock-Chic-Style: “I like vintage. Balmain. Givenchy. Chanel. I love jeans. And I wear a lot of it – on the other hand hardly skirts “.

With her daughter little Françoise.

Get the style! My look a like casual Emmanuelle outfit

Chanel Show Spring/Summer 2013

Lagerfeld is not a linear thinker, he did installing 13 giant white, modernist wind turbines across a vast stretch in the Grand Palais. “We ordered 20,” he said in a preview. “We don’t know what we need until we’re there.” The turbines stood on a floor of watery-toned solar panels, the soothing blue and white of it all perhaps flagging a take on minimalism? Not quite. Within Lagerfeld’s recently redesigned studio on Rue Cambon (parquet floors doused in hammered white gold) the working title was “Neo Coco.”

There is no one like Lagerfeld, who has for 30 years, the core of the brand Chanel so firmly under control. The next closest is Marc Jacobs, 15 years at Louis Vuitton.

What can I say about the summer collection 2013? I could find lots of Chanel jackets, dresses, skirts, pearls, shoes, bags which I would have badly. Hello? At Chanel, you can always find something, haha – because that will be never possible for me, so I’ve designed my own Chanel// Converse shoes in London at Selfridges. R&R tribut to Chanel, Romantique wears: pearls to a breton cardigan by Gaultier, white top and a jeans mini skirt.

And now let’s hear, what the celebs say about the Chanel show SS 2013:

Aussie Chic

Icons/ Romantique
You would think Australia isn’t spoilt when it comes to fashion:
Located almost as far as humanly possible from Europe’s fashion capitals, and lacking of presence of global High Street fashion chains (Zara only opened its first store down under in 2011), fashion doesn’t always find its way to Australian shores quickly.  And when it gets there, Australia’s notoriously exorbitant taxes, mean that Aussies often end up paying twice as much as the rest of the world!
Still, despite these disadvantages, Aussies have an admirable style of relaxed elegance and many of my favourite style icons are Australian. Aussies would probably argue that they don’t require foreign influence. Australia is proud of it’s rich and thriving fashion scene (and I don’t mean Billabong)!
Let’s have a look at my favourite Aussie style icons:
Above: Miranda Kerr is wearing Rebel’s floral trousers (or is Rebel wearing hers?) from Celine combined with nude pointy heels and a relaxed stripy shirt. Effortless fashion at best!
Street style Sydney:  Floral pencil skirt, cornflower blue handbag and nude knitted jumper – thumps up!
Australian model Jessica Hart revives romantic fashion in a floral midi lengths skirt paired with a crisp white shirt and cardigan.
Jessica sporting a playful braided-up do and a pale pink Valentino gown.
Miranda Kerr doing floral pattern clash in Erdem. Feminine, romantic and fashion forward, love it!
