Oprah Winfrey’s Life Coaching

Astro & Spirit/ Rebel

Oprah Winfrey is a shining example in my life. Okay, cool she is a billionaire on her own power, she looks like the sister of Diana Ross, she is a natural talent of rhetoric and she is a spiritual person. Her quotes always give me the power to moving forward in my life. Let’s read her life coaching words:

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”

“Turn your wounds into wisdom.”

“Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness.”

“The greatest discovery of all time is that a person can change his future by merely changing his attitude.”

“I still have my feet on the ground, I just wear better shoes.”

“You CAN have it all. You just can’t have it all at once.”

“Lots of people want to ride with you in the limo, but what you want is someone who will take the bus with you when the limo breaks down.”

And now EXHALE:

Sailor girl

Dresses/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

I know I mentioned this a few times now  so bear with me.  After four months of torrential rain on the British isles (April – July) we did deserve a phenomenally hot August! And this weekend was one of those hot, hazy summer days you will dream of in the middle of winter – so I packed Mr Romantique for a rowing trip on the Thames in Richmond.

Richmond is an idyllic hidaway from the chaos of London City, I especially love it’s arched bridges which remind me of Paris, seen here in the background.

The dress code for the hot day was breezy and comfortable, nothing to clingy. This cute sailor dress was a steal for just 12 EUR from the Mod box at TK Maxx!! I ramped it up with accessories from Moschino. Kindergarten bag “Olivia” from Moschino…

….and cream coloured sunglasses from Moschino – heart shaped tan line included for prolonged tanning sessions!

Zara’s Peplum Leather Jacket

Coats/ Rebel/ Wardrobe

Peplum is a new vocabulary for us Germans! Peplum leather jackets are the ideal companion for the autumn season. At Zara we have saw this black leather jacket with peplum detail. Who else than Romantique had to try it on?  The collarless jacket is made of soft glove leather with little puffed sleeves, just gorgeous!

Emma Stone shows us how to dress peplum jackets: It fits perfectly with a slim silhouettes skinny jeans, ballet flats from Chanel and a fun T-Shirt – a charming style.

We love the Zara Peplum Jacket, really recommend it!

How NOT to get stuck in a style rut!

Romantique

We all are guilty of getting stuck in a style rut now and then – we wear colours and shapes that we know suit us and hardly deviate from that.

I have always hated the colour red as I thought it’s too strong for me and overwhelms my face. And more than red, I don’t like t-shirts with bright patterns on them. So when Rebel gave me this dark red FerreMilano Tshirt with tropical print, I was sceptical whether I could wear it as it’s not my usual style. However,  once I put it on, I felt really comfortable in it and got lots of compliments, not only because the T-Shirt looks good, but also because it’s a refreshing change from my usual pastel, black, white and navy colours.

Use these  brilliant tips from Parisian style icon Ines de la Fressange to ensure you don’t get stuck in a rut:

  • Do not cling blindly to everything that suited you years ago – you have changed, times have changed, fashion has changed too
  • Carry on expressing your personal style, but never let that translate into boredom, a lack of interest in trends, the absence of desire, clinging to habit and routine, fear of change or making a mistake
  • Accept that you will get some things wrong – everyone makes mistake when out shopping. Take it as an encouraging sign that you still dream of re-inventing yourself
  • From makeing radical changes, the Parisian knows how to evolve her style as she gets older.
  •  Sell your crocodile handbag on ebay!

Trend: Black Leather

Rebel/ Wardrobe

Life is not a red carpet but it’s still possible to bring some red carpet feeling into your life without being Angelina Jolie. Black Leather is a huge fashion trend for the coming fall/ winter saison 2012 – the catwalks for autumn had quite a gothic theme, with a lot of leather on show – but why not wearing leather even in summer on a sunny August day? Let all the others wear floral dresses, but not you, if you are in one-spirited sister of Angelina!

Iconic women and cats

Icons/ Romantique

I strongly believe that there is a special bond between women and cats – In a recent study, researchers observed that whilst men certainly got along with their cats, there were more interactions between women and their animals. They found that cats were more likely to approach women than men and to do things like jump on their laps to initiate contact. Study author Manuela Wedl of the University of Vienna said that women’s relationships with their cats were also “more intense.”

Far from lonely old women, the most iconic and beautiful women were avid cat lovers. Let’s have a look at one of the most fascinating female celebreties and their love for the feline queens.
Above: Audrey Hepburn loved animals and was the mother of 13 (!) cats. Her  feline co-star in Breakfast at Tiffany’s was Orangey, an orange tabby who is the only feline to win the “Patsy Award” twice, the animal world’s equivalent of the Oscar!

In her world famous rendition of “Diamonds are a girls best friend”, Marilyn Monroe sang that a kiss won’t help you to feed your pussy cat. Off the screen, Marilyn had two cats herself, one of them was called “Mitsou”.

Probably the star most known for her adoration of animals, especially cats: France’s sex kitten Brigitte Bardot dedicated her life to fight for animal welfare.

Not only Jackie Kennedy’s crazy cousins the Beales, known from the cult documentary and HBO movie “Grey Gardens” loved cats – Jacqueline O. was a cat lover herself.

A recent example of beautiful women & cats: Laetitia Casta shot by Karl Lagerfeld for V Magazine September 2012.

UCLA Shirt

Jumpers/ Rebel/ Wardrobe

The last time I was in America 5 years ago and I miss Los Angeles and New York very much. All my UCLA shirts I bought in America, because in Germany you can’t get it regularly in shops. For a sporty style, the shirts are just awesome good because UCLA is always cult and never out of fashion.

As I learned from Isabel Marant: shirts, skinny jeans and heels are a modern look and also wearable for women older than 40 years without appearing ridiculous. I love this style very much and I feel very comfortable and so young.

I WEAR:

UCLA Long sleeve shirt, white Jeans by Diesel, Sandals by BCBG and Chain by Achim

Gucci’s Gelato coloured leather dress

Dresses/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

Leather will be a huge trend this autumn and its losing it’s dominatrix image by coming in sweet gelato colours and feminine shapes!

Blake Lively wore an orange coloured shift leather dress by Gucci resort 2012.

The bright colour is perfect for the classic feminine shape. Rather then wearing the leather dress with chunky statement heels, I love Blake’s  elegant, pointy heels.

Get Blake’s look for less: This must have orange leather dress is by Miss Sixty and no less sexy than the Gucci version. And the best: You will certainly save a few bucks!

Working girl

Accessoires/ Romantique/ Shirts/ Skirts/ Wardrobe

Today is Monday after the Olympics – I felt tired this morning having watched the closing ceremony until 1 am last night – and every time I feel a bit “rough” in the morning I chose a sharp garnment to compensate for the disheveledness. A white shirt always makes you look pulled together. My broderie anglaise umbrella skirt gives it a playful edge. Skirt from Max & Co, shirt from Stefanel, shoes from Pretty Ballerina.

The blue green ballet pumps pull the green piping of the white shirt and the navy blue skirt together perfectly!

My bracelet is a present from my lovely friend Fran – check out her website, showcasing all her unique handmade jewellery. You can even have your jewellery customised by her. Needless to say, Francesca is of Italian origin, as you can tell by the artisanship and high style content of her items.

H&M Vintage Skirt

Rebel/ Skirts/ Wardrobe

Yes, sometimes, clothes from H& M are well made and last more than just one season! It’s hard to believe, my blue cotton skirt from H&M is 12 years old and definitely vintage!

Some seasons I haven’t worn the skirt and that shows once again you should not always stick to the rule in your closet to throw anything away that you haven’t worn for 6 months. And a navy blue pleated skirt is a must stay in your wardrobe . And by the way, men like girly skirts. Funnily enough, most compliments I get whenever I wear the H&M Skirt.

I WEAR:

Navy blue skirt by H&M, Cashmere Top by Gusto Barcelona , Shoes Tk Maxx, Bag by Calvin Klein Collection
