Best of Drugstore: white teeth & orange lips

Beauty

Every woman has something special about her. One has long legs, beautiful thick hair, great lips or clear skin. My assets are my teeth. I would even say I’m OCD about looking after my teeth. For me it’s about maintaining good material and make my teeth last as long as possible. Even more so because my teeth are a dominant and striking characteristic of my face, so I want them to look tip top. To do this, I visit the hygienist three times a week. I brush my teeth 3 times a day with 3 different tooth pastes. The most important toothpaste for white teeth is ELMEX intensive. It prevents dark staining and prolongs the effects of the polishing from the hygienist.

The Colour Riche lipsticks from L’Oreal have a solid formulation: good coverage, good pigmentation and long lasting colour. Now to the colour choice: Orange is not really my colour, but the Colour Riche 115 Rouge Coral is ideal in summer when my skin is lightly tanned. In Winter with pale skin this colour does not work for me anymore and I have to use darker tones. What I like most aobut the Colour Riche 115 is that it won’t make the teeth appear yellow because it was smartly mixed with blue.

Beauty Comparison Germany – France:

French women are known as vain, glamourous and sexy, they use scarlet red lipstick during the day and prefer heavy perfumes. German women are more about health and wellness, she like lipsticks in nude and rosewood tones and prefer light and tangy perfumes. (Source: Ipsos Study from Nivea).

Statement Pants: Orange

Rebel/ Trousers/ Wardrobe

Do you feel the urge to totally revamp your style? Start with a statement pants in orange and dress down all other – top, jacket, blazer and shoes – around in black. If you focus on what you have to offer to others instead of pumping up your own ego, your fan base will grow exponentially. And the same rules work for fashion as well.

Miuccia Prada talks

Icons

Fall Trend Guide: Red Alert

Rebel/ Shirts/ Wardrobe

As an accent color in the past, red is now perceived as a commercial outerwear choice and the most commercially important and dominating colour of the fall/winter 2012 season. The color of passion appears everywhere from store interiors and hotel decor to gadgets and to-die-for accessories. A tube of rouge lipstick and a blood-red fur chubby, and you’re on your way to the season’s boldest trend. The message of the colour red is clear: Here I’am.

Romantique’s 10 Essential wardrobe items (Part 1)

Accessoires/ Dresses/ Wardrobe

As seasons and trends come and go, one can get carried away when out shopping and end up with too many clothes and bursting wardrobes. Time to assess your wardrobe and invest in building blocks; Clothing that will stand the test of time and trends, that you can combine easily with other pieces in your cupboard.

Create your own style basics with your unique sense of style. Items of clothing that you find yourself each and every morningl

Here’s my countdown of the Top 10 Essential wardrobe items:

The Little Black Dress. LBD,  is one of the most versatile wardrobe items. You can style it up or down with flats or heels, accessorize with a belt, combine with a cardi for work, wear in winter with tights and bare legs in summer. Chose the style that reflects your style. Mine is playful and ruffled.

The Chanel-like Boucle Tweed Box jacket is a modern classic. Wear it with a white shirt like Penelope Cruz for a classic style. Or casually with jeans or shorts. Wear a flowery silk blouse under the jacket to add some femininity. Creations are endless and up to you.

A pair of flattering sunglasses that suits your face shape is an absolute must have. I have a pair of classic dark sunglasses and a pair of “fun” sunglasses. These sorbet coloured large cat eye sunglasses are from Miu Miu.

The day dress is not to be mixed up with the evening or cocktail dress. It’s a dress for the day that you can wear at work or out at play. I love classic shapes like the above shift dress in trendy pattern and colours.

With a white shirt, you will always look pulled together. It polishes every outfit: Wear it with skirts, trousers, shorts or Jeans. Find your personal style: My above Stefanel shirt has a Peter Pan collar with green piping and ruffle detail.

Stay tuned for Part 2 of my 10 essential wardrobe items next week! And tell us which items you can’t live without.

When it comes to wearing this boho chic staple in a modern way, see how to get the look more cool and clean. Cooky Cute Parisian Jewellery

Accessoires/ Romantique

Have you ever seen a necklace made out of imitations of all the delicious goodies that a French patisserie offers, such as eclairs, mille-feuille, profiteroles and cakes? Me neither, but French luxurious costume jewellery designer Les Nereides offers just that! The quirky but elegant jewellery is made with loving attention to detail. Many of the painted enamel pieces are handmade. The collections are playful and adorable. Think kittens, florals, ballet dancer! But also minimalists will love their simple gemstone collections in powder pink, opal, turquoise and coral!

This is just a small sneak peek at their collections. Check out their website or pop into the London Covent garden store.

Yeee haaa Short Cowboy Boots

Romantique/ Shoes

One of the most versatile shoe on earth must be the short cowboy boots. In summer, wear it with shorts, skirts and dresses. In winter, wear them with skinny jeans and leggins.

Above: I’m wearing tan coloured, flat short boots with a sailor Massimo Dutti dress and straw bag.

A string of celebreties have been seen wearing Isabel Marant’s Dicker boots. I love the combination Kate Bosworth wears – short light blue shorts, millefleur floral top and nude dicker Boots.

Claudia Schiffer knows how to brave the London weather: She teams a cute floral frock with lace-up shorts boots.

Inside Romantique’s cosmetic bag

Beauty/ Romantique

I love trying out new products from the thousands of choices the beauty industry lures us with every day. Still,  I  find myself reaching for the same products that I’ve been using for years because they just work . A few of them I’d like to introduce you today:

From left to right:

1. Bourjois Bronzing powder Delice de Soleil:

I like matte, non-oraney natural bronzers and Bourjois’ Delice de Soleil delivers just that. Plus it has a delicious chocolate orange smell. What’s not to love? I think this one is just as good as Guerlain Bronzing powders, just without the prize tag. The colour is perfect if you already have a slight tan.

2. L’occitane ultra Rich Lip Balm

My lips are quite sensitive and are often dry. This balm from L’occitane makes them super smooth again. It contains 10% Shea Butter and is a great base for lipstick and lipgloss. Eva Mendes is a fan too!

3. Physicians Formula Plump Potion in colour “Rose Potion”

This is a great lip plumper, it’s very hydrating on the lips, only a little bit tingly. Of course it doesn’t transform my lips into Angelina’s, but it gives a great shine. The only negative is that my hair tends to stick onto it, but the positives outweigh this one niggle.

4. Kohl Kajal Eyeliner in Turquoise from Lancome

This vibrant turquoise colour is not available anymore but you can get similar ones from Estee Lauder and Dior. I often wear turquoise kajal in the waterline of my eyes, paired with brown-bronzey  eyeshadow in summer.

5. Bourjois Liquid Eyeliner Liner Pinceau  in brown

I like the preciseness of liquid eyeliners. Brown is not as harsh as black and really matches the eyeshadow colours I often use (grey, brown, taupe)

6.  Lash Queen Mascara by Helena Rubinstein

THE best mascara ever. Makes lashes long and thick, no clumping, no crumbling. I’ve used this for years and have always searched for a substitute but no mascara comes even near! Discontinued in the UK, you can order this online.

7. Brow setting gel Estee Lauder

I simply brush over my brows in the morning with this clear gel. No more unruly brows!

8. Eucerin Dermo Cover Stick

Eucerin is a great German dermatological brand (belongs to the Nivea Beiersdorf Company). This cover stick calms irritation and covers up at the same time.

9. La Roche-Posay Unifiance Matt fluid foundation

I suffer from hyper pigmentation caused by the hormones of the pill and this non -shiny  foundation is perfect to balance skin tone on my forehead. It also provides sun protection.

10. Sisley Eyes hadow in “Toffee”

In my opinion, Sisley has the best texture of eye shadows. Buttery soft and brilliant colours with pearl sheen (not nasty glitter!). Read my post on these eye shadows here.

11. Givenchy Hydra Sparkling Magic Lip & Cheek Balm

Lip and cheek balm that gives a customized, instant flush of colour. It contains pigments that react with the skin’s humidity to create a personalized hint of color to the lips and a delicate glow to the cheeks

12. Bobbi Brown Gel eyeliner

I’m sure you know Bobbi Brown’s Gel eyeliner. It comes in hundreds of colours, my favourite colour is chocolate shimmer – a black brown with red bronzey shimmer. The little pots last forever and the liner holds all day!

Casual Jeans Friday

Denim/ Romantique/ Wardrobe

This morning it occurred to me that I haven’t worn Jeans for weeks! Casual Fridays are the perfect opportunity to wear jeans to work.

My “problem zones” are my bum and wide hips, so I always make sure that the fit of the jeans is not too low (and these days that’s quite a challenge!). Low sitting denims accentuate wide hips and muffin tops whereas in high fitting jeans, everything is nice packed away. Stretch material is a must as it slims the silhouette.

I’m wearing Jeans by Stefanel (by the way, no, I’m not being paid by them, I just love the fit and style of this Italian High Street brand). Boucle Jacket from TK Maxx, wedged espadrilles by Ras.

Like the look? get it!
